sleepwalks with me...
SO... in late 2009 or somewhere int he beginning of 2010, i cant remember who, from NYC contacted me because i was recommended by someone else...
it was, what at the time seemed like a small storyboarding gig, and the directions were very simple. the project description was vague and it seemed like a fun and quick thing to do.
The project description was to make a film based on a stand-up comedian who's material is about his sleeping disorder and they wanted to pitch the film in order to raise more funding for it. I received an e-mail with a pseudo-shot list and an mp3 with some of the comedian's material...
i did the assignment, thank yous were exchanged, and i was happy to have discovered Mike Birbiglia's stand-up material.
after that, i never heard anything out of the project and i simply forgot about it, since i moved on tot he next project that came around...
a few months ago, i was browsing thru netflix and i found what i thought was Mike Birbiglia's new stand-up, but it turned out to be a narrative film FAR MORE enjoyable than what i could have assumed... and not until the end of the movie, i realized.. THOSE SCENES were VERY familiar...
so, i looked thru muy old stuff and i found them; and... kinda had to wonder... if what i did actually helped to make this project happen.
i'm not entirely sure, since, i cant remember who called me or who recommended me to whoever called... but... i kept wondering...
In any case...
If you have NOT seen "Sleepwalk With Me" it is, indeed a VERY SWEET film, funny, witty, charming and i'd suggest it to EVERYONE. it's SUCH A GREAT film.
Thank you to Seth Barish, Mike and Joe Birbiglia and Ira Glass for writing and directing such an enjoyable film.
here are some of the boards...
